Hi,

Yes - I used to run my website from PyBlosxom, which as 'bad' enough (and small enough that I understood what it did)... of course it wasn't the easiest to maintain/modify, and eventually moved to Drupal.

At the moment, I just want something that works [tm]

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a PHP5 'fork' of wordpress sometime soon - not that I follow it's community at all, but there are a lot of components (e.g. Zend Framework) that could be used to accelerate the development of a 'rewrite'... of course they'd almost certainly loose the backwards compatiblity/old plugin support.

(I've never used Wordpress, and only once looked at it's code, and wasn't impressed)

Yeah, i agree. My own blog runs on my own home brewed software, which i definitely did for the reason 'every developer should do at least once'. I wouldnt do it again, but it serves my modest needs. And with rss, comments, captchas and sql escaping it meets most requirements. Oh, and it fits in with the style of my website.
