Dancing with the devil
So I thought I’d celebrate the release of Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake”) by installing Microsoft Windows Vista Beta 2.
Before I get flamed I’d like to point out that I am running Dapper on another machine.
Initial impressions are:
- Everything is nice and shiny
- The install is pretty straight forward, and there’s are basically no options beside choosing to upgrade or install, and how you want to use the disks
- For once all my hardware worked, although the soundcard needed drivers but Vista automatically retrieved them
- It asks you to confirm most actions1 – this is A Good Thing™ on the whole but it can get annoying, especially when it’s asking you to confirm the action you just manually chosen!
- IE7+ feels much like IE7 does
I’ll post some more when I’ve had time to delve into it further.
Additional Information
Chris Pirillo has compiled a couple of lists of what he considers problems with the current Beta:
1 I’ve not yet had this many confirmations though.
